It's a $100 guitar...not a ES-335 February 14, 2010 cavpilot (Ft Campbell) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you want a decent guitar for a decent price, Washburn sells the HB-35 for a fraction of what an ES-335 costs.
I've had three OE-30's: had to send one back because it was such a piece of garbage it would have taken more time to fix all it's issues than the guitar cost. The second one didn't have any major issues other than sharp fret edges and horribly hot pickups only suitable for playing Ted Nugent tunes. The third one had the typical sharp fret edges, tool marks on the bindings, loose jack, loose knobs, yucky pickups, and polish residue all over it. As an experiment I changed out all the electronics including the pickups for good quality Made in the USA stuff, and the guitar was much better (although not great). For $50 more than I have invested in the OE-30, I got an Epiphone Dot Studio that SMOKES it, and I didn't have to do a darn thing to the Epi. The Epi also has full access to all of the frets, whereas the Oscar Schmit does not. When I add in the value of my time, the Epi was a much better deal.
Given the garbage electronics and poor finish work of the OE-30, unless you're seriously short of cash *AND* a good do-it-yourself luthier, I'd steer clear of this turd.
Great Guitar for the Money February 1, 2010 D. Hart I've had this guitar (OE30)for about 2 months now. Read a lot of reviews on the guitar. 95% were positive and 5% were not. I'm assuming the 5% was the DOA average or workmanship issues. As commented before the strings that come on the guitar are useless and was making my fingers black. I changed those out and the guitar sounded awesome. I did notice that one of the tone nobs was on crooked, but I fixed that by putting it back on correctly. Thats it. Summary - Awesome guitar for the price. My dad liked it so much that he got one as well..
Shame on Washburn For Promoting this garbage. June 2, 2008 J. M. Robertson (Texas) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I got the guitar and the first time I went to hook it up to my pedals, the connector fell into the guitar and I had to fish it out and put it back together. Hard to keep in tune, the slightest bend of the strings causes this string to drop out of tune. Fancy guitar, but mostly
"bling". All looks and no quality. Sold it to a pawn shop for 150.00. Made my money back, but I wouldn't recommend this guitar for even a beginner.
Bad Purchase Overall September 25, 2007 Armando Servin (Dallas, Texas) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I ordered this Guitar 3 day expedited delivery and it took them 8 days to send the actual package. Secondly I contacted their customer service support only to find out they had forgotten to place my order. Forgot!!!! When I actually received the actual Guitar it appear used and had many scratches on it, it had been clearly used before. Not a new Product! Buyer Beware , I will never buy from this vendor ever again , I will tell all about this horrible experience.
BUY THIS GUITAR!! August 2, 2007 Percival the Sucky (Ohio) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This model has been discontinued by the manufacturer and you will never find such a deal again. This guitar is comparable to $1000 guitars with a few minor exceptions. You may have heard people claim that it is heavy, but it is just well made and substantial. High quality construction, impeccable sound (after string change). Above all this guitar is fully adjustable, which is rare in such a financial bargain. Tune-o-matic bridge, easy access to truss rod and humbuckers. It also has stock Grover tuners which would cost you 60-80 bucks to buy aside from the guitar. Before you buy a more expensive model, buy this guitar and change nothing but the strings.
Of all the reviews I have read, the complaints are very easily solved. Firstly when you get this guitar, don't play it for a couple of days, I know its hard, but give the wood time to adjust to the temperature of its new environment, then tune it, then play it. PLay it hard and break as many strings as you can, so you can hurry and replace them so you can see the full potential of this instrumental bargain.
