my Silvertone SL3 review April 18, 2010 M. Sabbah (SF, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This Guitar plays, feels , looks and sounds like a high end guitar that costs 10 times or more what you pay for, I wonder how they can afford to build such a piece of equipment and sell it for such a low price, but hey it's your gain.
veg-o-matic guitar....slices, dices, and SHREDS April 8, 2010 Stephen J. Tingle (Clinton, SC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had seen a review of this in Guitar Player some time back, and thought it sounded cool....and when the price got down to what it is now, I went ahead and ordered one online....it got here the other day, and what a trip! It looks just plain beautiful, and the humbuckers are so hot you better keep your hand floating on the whammy bar or you'll get burned....I had to do a little set-up for a fret-out on the little E string, and dressed a few frets better so I wouldn't cut my thumb off....but for the bucks, it is just beyond belief....smooth tuners, class pots, slick neck, and hellbuckers....a trem you can beat on....insane value, and it's a SILVERTONE!
So much for so little March 29, 2010 Marc Alexander 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought the amber version of the Silvertone Fastback a few months ago and I cannot recommend it more highly. Try as I may, I cannot think of a better guitar for twice or three times the money. To begin with, the guitar is a version of the EVH Wolfgang but at a fraction of the cost. What, then, are the Silvertone's virtues and vices? The pickups are totally silent and so responsive that you would think you are playing an axe fitted the DiMarzio's. The pups are clear, full and versatile -- they can be played clean or through pedals. Either way, they sound great. The neck is like playing on glass and the action is well suited to rock or blues. As for its vices, I replaced to so-so tuners, tremolo and misc. hardware with mostly Wilkinson gold fittings. Also, you might want to replace the jack as it is not the best but quite functional. In short, invest a few bucks, get out your soldering iron and you will have a guitar that is unbeatable for the price and a genuinely hot instrument in its own right. Go for it!
Beautiful and high-quality February 28, 2010 Nnn (Louisiana) (I bought both the Amber and the Blue finish models of this guitar, and posted essentially this review for the Blue one, so here goes, similarly for this Amber one:)
This is an astonishingly nice guitar. I can't believe the price. The quality is absolutely tops! Everything is perfect: all hardware, the neck, the body, everything is flawless. I ordered two from this seller, and the two retail boxes were safely both placed into one larger box for shipping: arrived perfectly. Awesome guitar, will keep for YEARS and keep playing. Much thanks to the manufacturer and seller!
Best in category for price January 28, 2010 P. Thornton (Texas) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The Silvertone SFB1 Fastback is a beautiful instrument with excellent value for the price. I chose the amber finish because it is close to a natural color for wood. The top is a "high tech" or photo printed wood grain on cheaper wood laminate. It looks great, but not too real from close up. The guitar is faithful to it's "EVH" style. The pickups are hot and distort very well. This is not really a guitar for clean sounds, and it has a lot of low end.
At least at American Music Outlet prices, this is by far the best choice for this type of guitar in the price range.
